help with IE?

Hi listers. Ok I'll try make sense. basically after a reformat and reinstall of windows xp, I can send and recieve emails, access chat programmes, but I can't browse to any sites with Ie. I just get a page cannot be displayed error. Anyone with any ideas, please reply on the board or send mail to bubby1972@dodo.com.au. I'm using a computer at colege to write this message. Thank you

Try optimizing your explorer by clearing cashe and cookies, etc. Also check proxie and security settings. You can go under connections, and lan settings to check the proxy. Also do you have a firewall? If so try to disable it to see if that works.

Another thing is try and set your home page, to like google.com or a site you know comes up.

yep, if its on campus/at college, perhaps the network needs specific proxy settings. Check this with the IT helpdesk.
